Born To Sea: 18 wins in a month!

24/06/2019

Arrived in France at the Haras des Faunes for the spring of 2019 where he has just mated with 100 mares, Born To Sea, the latest product of Urban Sea, brother of Galileo and Sea The Stars, aligns the winners at a feverish pace. Its products have just won 18 victories in one month, including 11 in the last two weeks! Source: WWW.ECSSO.FR

Owners of the champion Urban Sea and breeders of all his great descendants, Christopher Tsui and his mother Ling Tsui have retained Born To Sea property. This son of Invincible Spirit is the latest product of the winner of the 1993 Arc de Triomphe, because Urban Sea had unfortunately died when foaling. The youngest brother of four Gr.1 winners, with the champions and today star stallions Galileo and Sea The Stars, has himself reached the elite in competition. Listed winner of 1200m (Bleinhem Stakes) and 2nd of Gr.2 (Killavullan Stakes) at 2 years old, he was Camelot's runner-up in the Irish Derby (Gr.1) in 2011, before concluding again 2nd behind Famous Name at the Royal Whip Stakes (Gr.2). This classic horse began his stallion career in 2013 in Rasthasker Stud, before joining his brother Sea the Stars at the Aga Khan, Gilltown Stud still in Ireland. At the end of summer 2018, the Tsui mother and son decided to make a new start to their horse.

Through Nicolas de Watrigant (Mandore International), who has been advising them for many years, Born To Sea has taken the direction of the south-west of France to settle at the Haras des Faunes at Alain Chopard, who had already received Kheylef from the young man of Mont-de-Marsan a few years earlier. Born to Sea received immediate support from its owners, who sent 15 brood mares (some of which were purchased for the occasion) and regional breeders in general since it has just finished its first French mating season with a round count of 100 mares covered.

In terms of production, Born To Sea kicked off the year in the best of ways with a Listed victory won on January 1st. by Naval Warfare in Randwick Australia on 2400m, the aptly named New Year's Day Cup. He chained the winners in the spring but distinguished himself by a series of very impressive success in recent times. Thus, Born To Sea claims no less than 18 victories between May 23rd. and June 25th., all over the world, including 6 last week and 5 the week before! His first generation is 5 years old, but it is mainly with his 3 years that he fills his charts now. Among these, he has a "real good", undefeated in 2 races. A student of the Aga Khan, Verimli won the Mississipian Prize on May 13th at Saint-Cloud and then went on to win the important Prix de la Chézine (Class 1) in the 2400m of Nantes. Grandson of Vereva (Prix de Diane, Gr.1), and nephew of Verema (Maurice de Nieul Prize, Gr.2, Kergorlay, Gr.2, Lutetia, Gr.3), Verimli was born from a great classic strain and can aspire to become a great stayer. Note that it is the first product of his mother Verriya (Zamindar), unprecedented mare judiciously bought by Vincent Le Roy for 21,000 euros in December 2017 in Arqana, then full from Mukhadram.

Among the 3-year-olds, Born To Sea was also honored on June 16th with Cnoc On Air, winner of a good handicap at Leopardstown at Joseph O'Brien, on June 21st at Newmarket July with Potenza on June 22nd with Shared Ambition in a maiden at Down Royal. Let's not forget Siege, handicap winner mid-May at Maisons-Laffitte at Nicolas Caullery's. In short, Born To Sea has turned into a machine to make winners.

PS: A few hours after the publication of this article, Born To Sea has released a new winner in Ireland: the 5-year-old Flicker Flame who won a big handicap of 15.000 € to the winner in Ballinrobe on 2600m at Joseph O'Brien.
